Golfr

Terms of Use

Golfr · Effective October 26, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Jake Shockley, doing business as Golfr ("Golfr", "we") for using the Golfr app. By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.

Your account

Community rules

Golfr is for golfers to share rounds and opinions about courses. When you post, comment, tag or share photos, you agree not to:

Golfr has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that breaks these rules is removed and the account that posted it is banned. Golfr also filters text for slurs, hate speech, sexual content and threats before it's posted.

You can report any round, comment, photo or profile, and block anyone; blocking someone also reports them to us. We review every report and act on it within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules and ban the accounts that posted it, with or without notice.

Your content

You own what you post. You give Golfr a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and distribute it in the app (for example, showing your rounds to your friends and your shared photos on course pages) for as long as it's on Golfr. Course rankings may be combined anonymously with other golfers' rankings to compute course scores, including after you delete your account.

Copyright and DMCA

Only post photos and content you own or have permission to share. We respond to notices of copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). In the app, you can also report a photo with "Copyright: I own this photo".

Sending a takedown notice

If you believe content on Golfr infringes your copyright, send our designated agent a written notice that includes:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature (as the copyright owner or someone authorized to act for them).
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
  3. Identification of the material on Golfr you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it (for example, the golfer's username, the course and the date, or a screenshot).
  4. Your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use isn't authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.

Designated copyright agent

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).

Counter-notices

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you can send our agent a counter-notice that includes: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and telephone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if you're outside the U.S., any judicial district in which Golfr may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We'll forward your counter-notice to them, and may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless they tell us they've filed a court action.

Repeat infringers

Each time we remove content for copyright infringement, the account that posted it receives a strike. We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers: an account with three strikes is permanently closed, and we may close an account sooner in appropriate cases.

Course information

Course details, scores and ratings come from golfers and third-party sources and may be wrong or out of date. Golfr scores are opinions, not facts. Check with the course before you go.

Disclaimers

Golfr is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee the app will always be available or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Golfr isn't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for content posted by other users. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing.

Ending your use

You can stop using Golfr at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or to protect other users.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Golfr means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Apple

These terms are between you and Golfr, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
